We are looking for a competent Restaurant Host. You’ll be the face of our restaurant and responsible for our guests’ experiences.
Hosts are responsible for creating an excellent first impression for guests. They need to greet guests warmly and promptly find them seats, usually by using the POS or reservation management system. Hosts must also answer any questions for walk-ins. They take reservations over the phone and handle incoming online reservations. Hosts also manage the waitlist, which involves setting guest expectations during busy wait times. Most importantly, the Host is the information center of our restaurant - a great host is constantly reading guests and recording information about them in their profiles on our reservations system - so that the Host can share that info with our service team to allow us to serve our guests with a personalized touch.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and seat guests in a warm and professional manner.
- Handle incoming calls and guest needs from reservations to questions about the restaurant and our service.
- Manage and master our OpenTable reservation system to maximize business and guest experience.
- Maintain clean updated menus as well as a clean work area. Keep station tidy as you work.
- Assist in transferring cocktail orders, clear and reset tables if needed for service.
- Full knowledge of menu (ingredients & prep) to be able to take take-away orders in person and on the phone
An excellent candidate will exhibit the following:
- Knowledge of principles for providing excellent service. This includes assessing guest needs, meeting and maintaining quality standards for service in both food and beverage and ability to evaluate overall guest satisfaction.
- Actively looks for ways to help guests and their co-workers.
- Critical thinking: uses logic and reasoning when a problem arises and is able to find solutions.
- Ability to observe, receive, learn and otherwise obtain information from training and relevant sources.
- Ability to prioritize, work efficiently and quickly while maintaining a clean work station
- Ability to push service to optimize our dining room’s seating capacity and maximize revenue
