Runner


JOB OVERVIEW:
The Food and Beverage Runner is responsible for full-process ticket expediting, from assisting with firing dishes in the kitchen to plating, to delivering finished dishes to guest tables. The Food and Beverage Runner will also be responsible for performing side work for FOH, replenishing FOH stock and clearing bus bins, preparing mise-en-place, and any other duties designated as necessary by the manager on duty. The Food and Beverage Runner will also bus tables and barback as needed.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
  • Executive Team and all Managers, All F&B employees, All Culinary, Event Sales Team, Front Office Team, Reservations, GR Team, Finance Team, HR, Design, Housekeeping Team, and all other relevant departments

External:
Restaurant customers, hotel guests/visitors, vendors, events guests, entertainers
WORK AREA:
  • All restaurant Back-of-House work spaces & stock/storage areas, with a specific emphasis on the kitchen pass/food prep area, as well as Front-of-House spaces and storage areas. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Essential:
Physical:
  • Able to work standing for a minimum period of 8 hours a day
  • Periodical bending, kneeling and stretching
  • Able to pull, push, carry and lift at least 50 pounds
  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands
  • Understanding: Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions according to established procedures
  • Comprehension: Listening comprehension and basic communication in the English language
  • Organizational Skills: Work efficiently, utilize multi-tasking, prioritize tasks
  • Hygiene and Sanitation: Adherence to uniform, grooming, personal hygiene standards, and expectations per SOPs as well as all COVID related hygiene protocol
  • Punctuality: Adherence to posted schedule and arrival time and attendance at mandatory meetings when scheduled
  • Responsibility: Personal comportment in line with Standard, New York policies, standards, and expectations
  • Willingness to learn and adapt

Desirable:
  • Multi-lingual
  • Previous work experience in a similar area

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accurate and consistent firing of order tickets to the culinary team
  • Assist with plating/finishing food dishes
  • Running of food dishes from the kitchen to guest tables
  • Assist with the restocking of FOH spaces, including dishware, china, glass, and silverware
  • Assist with clearing bus bins from FOH spaces
  • Assist with bussing tables
  • Barback duties include assisting with cleaning glasses, refilling ice, and slicing fruit as needed
  • Assist kitchen staff with mise-en-place setup and replenishment
  • Assist with maintenance of back-of-house storage and stock rooms as required by management
  • Properly bag all garbage and prepare for pick-up
  • Provide a level of service consistent with established standards in every aspect
  • Perform other duties as requested by the manager
