Jubilee Market is opening a new grocery at 145 West Street in Greenpoint, which will be our flagship store. You will be a part of the opening team of our newest grocery.
We are searching for a seasoned fishmonger department. You will be hands-on in supporting not only your fellow mongers, as well as occasionally coordinating between other departments within the grocery.
We work with local purveyors to source great ingredients, and showcase them in our cafe and through the production of value-added products. Our goal is to showcase the highest caliber of hospitality possible, meaning our guests should always feel at home and welcome. Our food should always reach above and beyond expectations, and our attention to detail should exceed our competitors.

Qualifications
Minimum
- 1-2 years experience working as a fishmonger or general seafood prep
- Knowledge of safe handling for knives and bladed equipment
- NYC Food Handler’s License
- Ability to work as a team
- Fluent understanding of various allergens and interactions
- Amazing customer service
- Timeliness
- Ability to be at work by 6am
- Basic fish butcher skills
Responsibilities
- Work as a team to deliver a great experience for our guests
- Correct and timely preparation of various fish products for the seafood department
- Work in accordance to recipe guidelines and specifications
- Follow proper food safety guidelines
- Follow proper sanitation guidelines and maintain a clean station
- Coordinate with and assist other team members when necessary
- Strong and fluent communication of needs to various departments
- Be a positive team player and communicator
Preferred
- Interest in sustainable and ethical meat production
- Obtaining fluency/knowledge about our products and purveyors
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs if necessary
- Comfortable walking or standing for long periods, often entire shifts
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in cold environments for long periods of time
- Safe handling of equipment (bandsaws, deli slicers)
